Gorgeous Looking, But….

The sapele cutting board is absolutely beautiful sitting on top of the sink! It was convenient to be able to push what I cut into the colander and cutaway pieces into a small trash container. However, I found it showed cut marks quite visibly and quickly. I thought perhaps oiling it would make them less noticeable, but once the oil seeped in, they became darker and even more visible. I now put another cutting board on top and use that instead. Same convenience while keeping the sapele board as more of a “show” piece for presentation purpose. The dimensions are also very exact, no forgiveness. My countertop is ever so slightly tighter - even though it looks flush with the sink - in one spot and the board won’t go down; I have to place it on the sink lip elsewhere and then slide it.
